Just had to share this idiocy.

I went at GameWorks in Columbus last Saturday to play some DDR. GW has a new SuperNova machine, along with Extreme. There are some scrubs playing SuperNova, so I sit down and watch.

I watch them play through three or four 4-song sets, and NONE OF THEM PLAYED ANY NEW SONGS. Every song they played was also on the Extreme machine, which is about 10 steps away, and also half as expensive (SN costs about $2.60 a game, Extreme about $1.30).

In addition, the Extreme machine was turned up so you could hear it; the SN machine was so quiet you literally couldn't hear the music at all.

Someone on a DDR forum confirmed he saw the exact same thing happening at Gameworks in Newport, KY.

Why???? There is no reason to play SN unless you play the new songs... sheesh.

I was watching Robot Chicken a couple weeks ago and it had Fidel Castro playing someone at Dace Dace Revolution and Fidel Castro was challenging him at Dace Dace Counter Revolution.

This is really funny how the game DDR is saying Bueno and No Beuno and all that stuff in Spanish!

You read that right. :D I caught this kid's act this past Saturday at Dorney's HalloWeekends. He happens to be the opening act for the Monster Bash Magic show and he's a stage hand for the magician. His stage name is Billy the Kid and he was on Ellen a few weeks ago to show off a quick 60 seconds of his routine.

In his show at the park, he kept this up for nearly five full minutes while talking into his mike and continuing his little comedy routine for the audience. You can still catch him for one more weekend if you just have to see this.

V(for EXTREME) - What is it?

Just a quick question, and hopefully someone can answer it. The song V(for EXTREME), on the 8th mix - it's a remix of what sounds like a classical song. Does anyone know what song that is? I've heard it remixed in various ways the past few weeks and really want to find other mixes of the same song.

For the three people who still read this forum:

I finally got around to playing DDR SuperNOVA. There's one at GameWorks in Columbus, in addition to the three at Cedar Point. It costs $2.60 per play at GameWorks, but at least you get four songs.

I can't remember all the songs I liked, but I really, really, really like No. 13. Also enjoyed Flowers, AA, Red Zone, Under the Sky (lol 6-footer... the ending will kill any unsuspecting n00bs who think they can manage it), Mondo Street, Stars***, DoLL (challenge steps are awesome), and Matsuri Japan J-Summer mix. Tino's White Horse is OK, too; reminds me of Hardcore of the North from In the Groove.

I hated Seduction Vocal Mix, Konoko... (really long Japanese title) and Monkey Punk. MP might be the stupidest DDR song of all time.

Interface blows. I hate how it reverts to default sort after each song, I hate how you have to hit the buttons at *exactly* the same time to activate the sort, I hate how it takes forever to scroll through the difficulty levels.

Also, the flak about some songs being off-sync is definitely deserved. First song I played was Tomorrow, which I know pretty much by heart because it's one of my favorite songs from the home versions. But I ended up with 30 perfects, more than 100 greats and something like 40 goods. Not kidding.

I did end up with two new AA's, Nos. 233 and 234.

Two more observations: One song, I forget which, says the tempo changes from 140 to 280. I kept waiting for it but it never came. Also, it seems like a lot of songs start up right away... caught me off guard a few times. And the flat screen is sweet.

The biggest disappointment for me is the missed opportunity to include songs from older mixes, such as Flash in the Night, Lupin the 3rd, Theme from Enter the Dragon, Ghosts, etc. Seems like they also dropped a lot of the best songs that were on Extreme (Rhythm and Police, So Deep, Cartoon Heroes) while keeping the worst (Cutie Chaser, Daikenkai).

For those of you who are DDR pros, What's a good mat to buy that's affordable and still good quality?

I used to play on the mats that slid and scrunched up, but the sensors died after a couple years.

Gamestop.com has created a new kind of way to play ddr games. I don't know if I would call it a drum since it looks like a soft pad that goes on the floor. I could be wrong though but it looks like that on that, I was hoping for a takio kind of drum but bigger because it seems annoying to be on the floor and to look at the screen.. I wonder how responsive it is and how it is compared to a dance pad. It should be in stores now but only at Gamestop. Konami will release a new North American DDR arcade game, titled Dance Dance Revolution Supernova.

It's the first major DDR arcade release since 2002's DDR Extreme, and only the second DDR arcade game made for U.S. players.

More details at www.ddrfreak.com. Looks like it'll be in a brand-new cabinet, and rumor has it that it'll emphasize U.S. exclusives that have appeared on home games.

I just hope the Extreme machines don't start disappearing. I'm not done with them yet.

What are your opinions on it?

I personally think that the interface is crap on all versions, the songs are weirder, but the steps are more fun. But does it seem to anybody that all Pump machines are quiet?
